The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are now open and may shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home with a combined gross family earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined home income does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and wish not post any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to nsfas application all South African citizens and permanent residents from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.
